“The end does not see” is a dance short film which follows the journey of seven people who try to break the limitations, to leave things behind and to achieve what it's called freedom, so the illusion.  The dance embodies the mental and physical boundaries through doubts and hopes, ending where it began.

"HANDS DO NOT TOUCH YOUR PRECIOUS ME"

A dialogue between the universes of Wim Vandekeybus, Olivier de Sagazan and Charo Calvo

With "Hands do not touch your precious Me", Wim Vandekeybus creates a mythical tale of confrontation and transformation, light and darkness, death and rebirth. For this he collaborates with the composer Charo Calvo, eight dancers and – for the first time – with performer and visual artist Olivier de Sagazan. Together they create a world in which bodies balance like living, fleshly sculptures between the utopian and the gruesome, the powerful and the fragile.

TRACES

a danced concert

World premiere on the 8th of December 2019 in the context of Europalia Romania during December Dance in Concertgebouw Bruges.

In his latest production entitled TRACES, Wim Vandekeybus follows the traces he has left. He looks back on the intuitions from whence his search began: to the drama of impulses and instincts; to the game of energies and intensities.

TRACES is an emancipation from the stone labyrinth of city and civilisation. In the overwhelming Romanian nature, with Europe's last primeval forests, Vandekeybus searches for traces that are older than man and his memory. For ‘the inner story’, for the story that unfolds before or beyond language and can only be told in the pulses of dance and music.

Ten dancers and five musicians. The music is written and now and then performed live by Marc Ribot (who wrote the music for Inasmuch as Life is Borrowed and Vandekeybus’ full-length film debut Galloping Mind) and Trixie Whitley (who was to be seen and heard in TrapTown).

WIM VANDEKEYBUS / ULTIMA VEZ

New creation "Die Bakchen - lasst uns tanzen"

World premiere on March 15th 2019 at Cuvilliéstheatre, Munich (DE).

In Euripides’ Bacchae, one of the great fables in world literature, it’s all about the tension between the city and nature, between law and transgression, between culture and drives. Dionysus and his votaries are not welcome in Thebes, the city of King Pentheus. Pentheus opposes the intoxicating and irrational cult of the new halfgod, who mainly attracts women - and wants to drive him out of the city. Revenge is what Dionysus is looking for. He tries to force a confrontation by letting himself be captured by Pentheus. Dionysus invites Pentheus to secretly attend - unseen and dressed as a woman - the orgies that are held outside the walls of the city. There, Pentheus is murdered by his own mother Agave, who in her intoxicated state, mistakes him for a wild animal and tears him to pieces. The animalistic, irrational, intoxicative elements that have been ousted from civilisation, all return in the form of blindness, destruction and aggression…
